"I was told that Floral Generica is designed and built by private enterprise and paid for exclusively by
its creator, the architect Eduardo Catalano. The aluminium sculpture weighs eighteen tons and is twenty
meters long, having forty meters of diameter. It opens to the sun each morning, and closes again at dusk."
"It's a huge metal flower that opens and closes in time with the sun. During the day it's wide open, and
in the evening, it closes almost all of the way, except for brightly colored lights meant to represent the
stamen and pistils. One of my big regrets from this past trip is that I wasn't able to snap a photo of it
at night, as it's a beautiful sight." "An interesting fusion of technology and art. This structure consists
of a metallic flower sitting in a pool of water. Sensors located on the inside cause the petals to close
at night and open during the day. It cost US $7 million to build this structure."
